I love coming here for a quick bite. The wait is never long and the food is cheap and delicious. I usually get the frittata or skillet and share it with my wife with a side of pancakes or French toast. The staff is friendly and courteous, which makes the visit that much more enjoyable. Stop by if you're in the area.

Forest Park has come a long way since it's border-line seedy days of the 1990s when I was a resident. MP Kitchen is a fine example of FP's new upscale attitude, but MP doesn't give you attitude, it gives you good breakfast in big portions served friendly. Don't get be wrong, Madison Street still has lots of bars, including the eternal Doc Ryan's. You can still go on a pretty good bender and eat BG fries from Sub T's. So when you wake up in your car or an alley, if you don't stink too much, brush yourself off and head over to MP kitchen and evaluate your choices over a huge omelet or giant stack of pancakes. Do something with your life! But start with a good breakfast!

This is a super great brunch location. I came here around 11 with my family and some of us got lunch and some breakfast but we all left satisfied. The breakfast menu was insanely big and had a lot of options for whatever you could want from skillets to omelets to things like waffles and pancakes. I would definitely check this place out if you're in the mood for a yummy breakfast.

We ate here when it was Thyme and Honey (the previous restaurant at this location) and then ate here again when MPK opened. It gets very very busy! They have awesome skillets but they don't have fresh jalapeños. The restaurant is packed when full and at times cramped. There is street parking for free but limited. Service is average. The food is above average. The restaurant is clean and unique in regards to decor. Definitely recommend you come here for a visit or two.

I'm in the Chicago area often and every time I visit - I make sure to have Saturday or Sunday Brunch at Madison Park Kitchen. The food is Really Good!! I've tried everything from the specialty pancakes to breakfast skillets and the lunch sandwiches/paninis. It's all delicious and flavorful. Their homemade soups are my favorite. I always get the soup. The prices are great and the restaurant is really clean. It's an around Great vibe, family friendly and I always get great service. The staff are very accommodating and super friendly. I love MPK! They've gotten to know me too now. Can't wait till I'm back in November.

Earlier this morning, I hit a patch of ice on the highway, the car spun, hit another car, and hit a wall. Somehow, we not only survived the crash, but both of the cars involved also survived relatively unscathed. To celebrate our lives and luck, we decided to go out for brunch. It was still snowing like crazy when we parked in a nearby lot, so we were relieved to find an unassuming sign, which was easy to almost miss because it was covered almost completely with snow. Service: We were seated right away and the hostess allowed us to choose where we were going to be seated. Of course, we chose the booth. When in doubt, always go with the booth. Our waitress had a LOT of character, service that could probably be pretty polarizing (for example, when we ordered sweet potato fries to share in addition to our meals, she said, "I'm not going to judge you. Okay, maybe I am"). I loved it, though. She was still really friendly and I felt like we were being served by a friend or something. Our food came out VERY quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. We had to wait a little bit for her to take note we had finished eating, but when she did appear, she had our check already, which was great. Food: So, when we first got there, I had trouble deciding what to order. I'm a decisive person, too. This menu was just filled with a bunch of really appetizing-sounding food. I ended up deciding on the frittata with the pancakes. The pancakes were good, but I've had fluffier in the suburb. This was the first time I had ever had a frittata and I enjoyed it. My girlfriend was really enthused about her crepes because they were filed with an assortment of fresh berries. Our meal ended up being about $28, which was a fine price for a TON of food. We each had leftovers, which we plan on eating for dinner later today. Now that's good value.

Great food and the service is very good . I totally recommend MPK for breakfast and lunch .

While Oak Park is supposed to be the cool suburb, River Forest also has its share of cute shops & interesting restaurants. I found Madison Park after fasting for blood work in search of the perfect breakfast. Wasn't disappointed. Love the line green walls & black checked tables. Ordered the pecan & bacon waffle and it was perfect. Will be back!

MPK is totally nice! I'm generally a creature of habit when it comes to ordering food at restaurants. For example, when I go to lunch at Subway down the street, I don't even have to say anything. My guy has my sandwich memorized. Sometimes he knows better than I do what I want. In contrast, at MPK, I've actually tried VARIOUS items on their menu which is just about unheard of for me. It has one of those very varied menus, but everything tastes way higher quality and "cleaner" than a similar type of restaurant. I also love that they serve their water WITHOUT ice. I hate ice in my water (for numerous reasons that I won't go into now). As far as what I've had on the menu (that I can recall), we've got: -the berry blast crepes (very good, though I'm not a huge fan of blackberries) -caprese panini (which I would usually order w/sweet potato fries) -garlic omelette (AMAZING, but I stink like garlic for several days) -eggurito (sp?) which is probably my current favorite item. It's scrambled egg wrapped in a tortilla with cheese, other random veggies, and jalapeños served with salsa and sour cream -their pancakes are some of the best I've ever had despite not being a huge pancake person I'm sure there are other things, but I fail to think of them now. They give free soup with their sandwiches, and I hear the lemon drop is divine, but I can't have it because it's chicken based. It's a good alternative to more greasy places nearby that serve somewhat similar offerings.

MPK used to be a great place to go. We would go every Sunday for the past year, but in the last few months, this place has gotten terrible. Today was the last day my family and I will ever go to MPK again. All of the great waitresses/hostesses no longer work there and now we are served by waitresses with sour attitudes and no smiles. All of the waitresses and the owners always look so stressed out. Come on, you're in the restaurant business. You're going to get busy. Learn how to put a smile on your face even at your busiest times. If you want to wait 15 minutes for a re-fill, have to ask more than twice for something and rude waitresses, this is the place to go.
(1)H T.
Amazing food and reasonably priced. I loved the Capt. CRUNCH french toast. Their breakfast menu is the main draw and you can't go wrong with it. Lunch however has just been OK, the Golden Gate chicken sandwich with presto was far too salty. But their burgers are very good, better than the ones made from scratch ;) The Waitstaff is always friendly and accommodating.

Work right down the street been looking for a good breakfast place for 2 years. Yelped breakfast tried it out. This was best breakfast we have had not just in the area but wow!!!. I can tell you this place just picked up a lot of business from our store. And the lady that awarded the phone was great so great food and service. Hard to find now these days. Thanks a lot for this meal. Did I mention this was to go.
(5)Matt M.
Forest Park Downtown is a great place, much more hopping than nearby downtown Oak Park. With that in mind, I would have expected a little more from MP Kitchen. Walking distance from our new house this place was promising. Brunch on a Sunday and the place was packed. They had a really troublesome time finding seating for 5, but when they did the service was solid. The 3 stars is a combo of the lack of coordination of the place - things did move slow getting us in and no one knew what the other was doing. And for the food. It was not bad, but it just didn't blow my mind. I ordered the captain crunch pancakes and expected something interesting. What I got were pancakes with captain crunch poured on them - not impressed. Everyone else seemed to like their food - I am going to give this place another try and hope for a better experience
(3)Meg R.
Awesome service and even better food! The Kick was delicious, I definitely recommend giving it a try! The staff is super friendly and the environment is so comfortable and welcoming, it's perfect for brunch!
(5)Christina B.
I am really starting to love this place. I think I've been here three times so far and each time I go is another delicious adventure. First off, I've had the same waitress the two or three times I've been here and she is phenomenal. I can't even tell you how amazing she is. Real friendly, will sit down next to you to explain different dishes, always has a smile on her face. She's almost the best part of dining in Madison Park Kitchen. She makes the experience so enjoyable. Secondly, their food is pretty great. I've tried 2 different skillets and 1 frittata. Now, I'm not usually one for trying too many new entres off of a menu. Once I find something I like, I usually stick with it. But this place has made me want to keep trying new things. Third, they use Belly. Always a fan of using that nifty little card. Fourth, they're just awesome. I mean, I don't really understand how they got their name. It's on Madison Street. Not Madison Park street. So, that's a little odd. I've met the owners, nice people. Otherwise, really nice breakfast place. Nice replacement of Thyme and Honey, even though I really liked their food as well.
(5)Thomas G.
Tried the San Juan Burger. It was good: burger on a bun with avocado and jalapeño peppers. Service was great! Will be back to try more when I can.
(4)Kyle D.
Great place. Fast service, good food. Pancakes were buttery and fluffy. Bacon was not over cooked and the eggs were light and fluffy. Would certainly come back next time I'm in Chicago.
(5)Tina S.
Happened upon this place based on a friend's recommendation. The hostess was really nice and we had a small, but it was cool... we (my 2 sisters and 2 kids) were seated by the window with a nice view of the patio and Madison Street. The server was a little annoying and she forgot one of the kid's order... She was not as attentive as we would have liked... the food was impeccable!!!
(4)Carlos G.
The best service and food. We love going for the skillets and their biscuits and gravy are the best. We have yet to have a bad experience. Keep up the good work.

This has become one of our go-to weekend brunch spots since moving to Forest Park a couple of years ago. The location is great, both for easy parking and for doing a little downtown shopping after you eat. The wait for a table is never all that long, and the staff seems to have it together almost all of the time, which is a big plus in a busy breakfast spot. The restaurant itself is clean, airy and bright. The menu goes a bit above and beyond standard diner breakfast (we haven't really considered MP Kitchen as a lunch place, so don't know much about that side of the menu), nothing earth shattering, but really good. What rocks my world are the gluten free pancakes AND waffles. They're really good, and you can get them just like every adult really wants ... with chocolate chips. Everyone is super nice, solid good breakfast food, gluten free options, plus they offer carry out for really great lazy weekends. My husband is on his way back with our breakfast riiiiight now!
(4)Kelsey S.
Restaurant is adorable, service is attentive, but food is sub-par. On an extended visit to the area, so I may return after scoping out the other breakfast and brunch venues, but I will not be rushing back, as adorable as the place looks.
(3)Mina N.
First timers and boy we were happy customers.. The location is great. Parking is good. The decor is so cute. We came in for brunch and just orders from the menu.. The service was quick and attentive. The food served fast, temperature of food was great. This may be our new favorite place.. But I will come back to try other items on the menus and keep you posted.. In the meantime. Want some great breakfast stop on in !
(5)Elizabeth H.
Cute little place! We had a Buffalo Chicken Skillet and the Captain Crunch French Toast- both were so GOOD! They also have a parking lot...I didn't know that and ended up paying for a meter. Definitely will go back here again!
(5)PJ C.
Not bad, but a little bit of a disappointment. Food was solid, but not magnificent. The service was spotty -- my waitress asked me three times for the kind of toast I wanted, then brought me the wrong thing anyway. They really need to work out some kinks.
(3)Jessica S.
Oh. My. God. The. Skillets. They have a make your own skillet option, and honestly, it was one of the best things I've eaten in sometime. Corned beef, onions, and peppers, oh my. I happily took my leftovers home and fried them up in a pan for dinner. Still amazing. My breakfast companion had a chorizo breakfast burrito (the exact name escapes me) and also nothing but good things to say. On the negative end, I will say that this place was extremely busy and that our table seemed a bit out of place and was in the way for just about everyone. We were constantly moving or being bumped by anyone who had to get past us. It also didn't help that the table was too small for the food that we ordered (which was only two plates, water, and coffee).
(4)Kris F.
We came in here for breakfast and the place was packed, a sign I hoped would mean that the food was flavorful and tasty. Unfortunately I would say we were left with a sense that things could have been...but fell short. The wait was a little longer than expected and parties who came in after us were sat at tables while we waited, looking longingly at the 2 open tables in the corner. Once we were sat, it took about 7-8 minutes before we were noticed and water was placed on the table. Another 5 minutes and our waitress arrived...not to take our order but to tell us she'd be back...this was unfortunately a theme we encountered throughout our meal. The food eventually came and was ok at best, nothing I would write home about or hurry back for. The Oreo pancakes my brother got was less sweet than expected but he barely ate half because the flavor was lacking. I got the breakfast nachos, chips were stale and not flavorful, the chorizo was a nice surprise and had good bite to it. There had to be close to 20 people working in this small place but they all seemed too busy to refill water, check in, etc. Breakfast for 3 was under 25 dollars which is one of the only high points of the meal. I will be going elsewhere for breakfast in the future.

Really good florentine hashbrowns and jalapeños mmm mmm looks clean new I like this place!! Be back 4sure
(4)Erika C.
I had a salad. The menu looked good but I wanted a salad. I got an old school Greek version of a salad, big leaves, big tomatoes and big peppers. Just like 1987. The menu looked updated and somewhat progressive. The salad was not. Service was a little strained and a little strange too. I would probably try something else and give it another go.
(3)Jenny K.
Delicious breakfast! Big portions! Also they brought or birthday cake pancakes and sang to us! Looking forward to trying their lunch!
(4)G C.
Last time we will ever go here. I've been here maybe 10 times each time brought 2 or 4 people with me...never again... Today my husband ordered the Jelly Doughnut pancakes what they gave him was just pancakes with jelly on top! There is jelly on the table thank you very much. We asked the waitress if our order was wrong but no she said the jelly was in the dough! No it wasnt! Either she was blind or thought we were stupid... Next my sister-in-law ordered the captin crunch french toast...all it was...was the cereal sprinkled on top!!! like maybe 20 pieces of the cereal...wow! Then my other sister-in-law ordered the cinnamon roll french toast and all it was...was cinnamon toast bread and it had raisins inside which was never described on the menu! Needless to say either MPK is getting sarcastic with their menu or they see their customers as idiots. Peace out MPK wont be recommending you anymore...what a waste of $
(1)Gina F.
I took my best friend and her husband here for breakfast when they were visiting. We picked it because it had some good Yelp reviews and seemed to have a large selection of vegetarian-friendly breakfast. It exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is really cute, and full of hustle and bustle like a diner. The service was attentive and the server gave us great recommendations. Each of us had something different, breakfast nachos, skillets, and pumpkin crepes, and everything was fantastic. The skillet doesn't look that big but it is densely-packed chock full of ingredients. I ended up taking half of it home. I would most certainly go back here. I can't wait to try more of the things on the menu.
(4)Jordan K.
Absolutely love this place for brunch. As you walk in you see an updated modern decor, and everything feels clean and fresh. There are several specials written on the chalkboard near the hostess stand in addition to the menu. The breakfast omelet came with so much food I couldn't believe it. Pancakes and hash browns in addition to the giant omelet. We also enjoyed the eggs benny and some of the sweet pancakes. Can't recommend a better brunch spot on Madison St. in FP.
(5)Cat C.
I've eaten here twice so far and have enjoyed it both times. I'm definitely a brunch lover, so it's a hit. My parents had their 40th anniversary breakfast here, and it's great for a casual meal as well. The portions are large and if you order an omelet you get hashbrowns, fruit, or cottage cheese, AND pancakes or toast. You will definitely get your money's worth. The omelets are gigantic. I haven't tried the lunch side of brunch here, but one of my girl friend's raves about the wraps and sandwiches. Yum.
(4)Marianne D.
My son lives in Forest Park and we tried this restaurant for the first time this morning. The restaurant is deceiving as the old non-descript exterior doesn't portray what's inside, a nicely decorated, bright and cute interior. Upon arrival, we were seated right away and our server approached us quickly. The service we received from our server Diane and the rest of the staff was attentive. My husband had huevos rancheros, I had an egg white Medi omelette and my son had the stuffed French toast and each of us thought the food was well-prepared and tasty. The coffee was good and refilled often. Prices were not over the top either. I will definitely be back when in town visiting my son to try some of the other creative breakfast items on MP Kitchen's menu...or may come back at lunchtime to try a burger, panini or wrap.
(4)Shaun S.
Madison Park Kitchen, your food is good but your attention to detail is horrendous. I cannot state that enough. 3 times I've ordered pickup, and EVERY SINGLE time something was missing from my order. Just happened today, forgot my drink and toast. Then after I hop back in my car to go back and get the rest of my order, get it home, and I have the wrong drink. I ordered apple juice, and got orange. Shame on me apparently for not inspecting every piece of my order at this point.... I'm done, food is good but it's ridiculous that you can't ever get me my entire order, correctly.
(1)Donovan B.
Ordered the skillet with chicken feta and spinach.... let me tell you.... it was soooooo damn good. Everything else is great from the service to the family feel to the place. 5*
(5)Timothy T.
Great owner and everything else falls into place from there. Attentive staff, huge portions (almost Texas sized), tasty food (love the chorizo skillet) and a nicely designed space. I'll be a regular by the end of summer.
(5)John M.
Went here with a group to discuss a web page we are developing and they did not bat an eye about separate checks. Look we are history people, not accountants! The staff is really friendly, I want to say that first. There were seven of us and we had a comfortable table, plenty of room and salt and pepper and cream and sugar on both ends so we were not always passing stuff. So they are kind and thoughtful! The New England Clam Chowder was pretty good. I would not run back to have it. But the sandwich was sort of incredible! I had the Golden Gate, avocado, bacon, chicken and I think pesto mayo.... it was basically incredible! I would go back for that! The other food looked good. Especially a BLT a friend had. I will go back, It isn't expensive and it was pretty darn good!
(4)V A.
You would be hard pressed to find a place with worse service. I've been there over a dozen times and seemingly the service steadily declines. I won't return. They serve specialty pancakes like red velvet and Oreo. During a prior visit, one of the waitresses suggested she could do a "small order" for my 7 year old, which we accepted. Since then, they have provided the "small order" (kids size instead of adult portion) to my kids at every visit. During my last visit, after waiting ten minutes for a slow waitress to arrive, I attempted to order the small order of Oreo pancakes for my 7 year old once again. The waitress told me they don't do that - to which I replied that they had done so at least half a dozen times before. She asked me "who" did it (as in which server) and I identified the servers who had done so previously. Next thing I know the owner lady comes over and accosts me about my "story" about small orders - stating she had never heard of such a thing, it wasn't authorized - and insinuating I was lying! Really? I need to be called a liar in front of my kids? Then she demanded that I rat out the servers that have me small orders of specialty pancakes previously - which of course I would not do. Extremely unprofessional and lacking in business savvy to say the least. The food, admittedly, is good. The service is awful. Slow, painful at times. The management is clueless.
(1)Rose G.
The staff were so patient and accommodating with my mother. The did was great and the atmosphere really open and bright. Perfect place for breakfast on a cold day.
(5)Alyssa L.
Delicious food! There is always something new and exciting to try on their specials menu. Staff is friendly and the menu has endless options for all diets. I live around the corner and still have never eaten the same thing twice. The service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is eclectic and clean. I am always sure to bring friends here when they are in town!
(5)Jaramiah S.
Standard breakfast fare at a good price. Great specials (Captain Crunch French toast? Yes, please!). Every waitress I've had has been excellent.
(5)Cee. D.
// A sunny Tues 20 May 2014 // My Mom: She stated that her pancakes were heavy (I don't like heavy pancakes either, light and fluffy is preferred). Also, her over/easy eggs were runny and I recall her specifically asking that they be prepared the opposite of runny :D I noticed that she didn't consume the sausage links either. I'm glad she didn't act UP about the runny eggs, 'cause believe you me, she can act UP when she's not happy 'bout something, esp. her food :D OH, that might just be where I gets it from :/ We both agreed that the coffee was good (she/decaff, me/regular), and that was great because I drank a lot of it that a.m. Me, Cee: Vegetable omelet w/wheat toast & hash browns; it was GOOD. Breffis is my favorite meal and I'm a tough breffis critic when it boils down to it. I will definitely return to MPK in the future. I was unable to consume all of my veggie omelet and the remaining kept me belly full for 2 additional days. BINGO!
(4)Justin S.
Great food, great atmosphere, nice decor, just a really neat place. Just went for the first time, and it is a definite must return. The prices are very reasonable.. lunch for two was just under $25, after tip. As well, the menu had a few items that alone will need future trips to enjoy, as much as I wanted to just order it all and eat until I exploded. I give this location as high of a recommendation as I can.
(5)Melina D.
We come here often for breakfast on weekends and they're always busy. It's not extremely top notch food but with their specials and limited yet versatile menu will please anyone. Their service staff is awesome and you get your food so quick. Their pancakes are amazing as are their skillets. You can't go wrong with any food item.
(4)Pierre W.
Great food and great service! Instantly became my favorite breakfast spot near Forest Park.
(5)Chris Z.
Great omelettes and waffles! Super friendly staff and they deliver a consistent experience every time!
(5)Rocky N.
Great place. Decent food. Great personable staff. Nice clean environment. Reasonable prices. Parking available.
(4)Jo-Ella S.
Fun, fresh breakfast spot (lunch, too). Decor is comfortably chic in black and white with punches of color. Coffee comes fast and often. I had a traditional skillet with ham, veggies and scrambled eggs on hash browns and a short stack on the side (instead f toast) Also tried the gravy out of curiosity. It was delicious, heavy but full of flavor, so a little goes a long way. Portions are huge and the leftovers made a great lunch. The menu has LOTS of sweet offerings. Crepes, specialty pancakes, stuffed French toast and more. Lots of sweet breakfast specials. My daughter had the Oreo Pancakes. Way too sweet, if you ask me. Wait staff was friendly and experienced. All around nice spot.
(4)Bart R.
This was one of the best breakfasts and service I've had in a LONG time. Be adventurous and get the Captain Crunch French Toast and Buffalo Chicken Skillet!
(5)Tres S.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. It has been discovered so Sat and Sun may require a wait. Wide choice of food items including 'build your own' options. Good but be sure to order eggs like you want - omelets are overdone unless ordered soft. Definitely lots to eat - we usually bring home something and we're big eaters. Staff is friendly and attentive although when crowded, service slows. The MPK accommodates large groups although the wait time and service can be affected.
(4)Susie C.
This new brunch placed opened two weeks ago. We wanted to try out a new brunch place around our neighborhood and found this one. It isn't crowded for a Saturday around noon. We were seated right away. The place is cute - looks like a cafe with black and white checkered table cloth on each table. We were seated by a table with a crying and screaming baby. Found the girl really annoying, and FINALLY the parents took them out half an hour after we sat down. They finally left so it made it much better. The service was okay. Felt our waitress was relatively new with her job..but like I said it opened two weeks ago so they must be on training and still getting used to serving and such. I had a skillet - forgot what it was called but it came with chorizo, jalapenos, green peppers, and mushroom. It also comes with a side of pancakes or toasts and I had the pancakes. The skillet was ok. I really like that the potatoes were shredded unlike chunks at other brunch places. I say the overall skillet was decent. The pancakes could be better. My husband ordered the eggnini which is pretty much ham, eggs in a panini with other items. He thought it was okay too. When we were paying, one of the owners of the restaurant took our payment and gave us each a mug! Yay free mug! Must be something they're handing out since they're relatively new. The mug has the restaurant name on it.
(3)Nathalie C.
Great for families and large parties. They have delicious gluten free pancakes :) coffee is strong and always fresh with amazing service.
(5)Lynn D.
Had a wonderful family breakfast today Stuffed French toast with fresh fruit was so good we order one to go, Ham Skillet and a Denver omelette the portions were big . MPK
(5)Sue F.
They are the cheapest on the block.. No additional charge for fruit, cottage cheese, or pancakes with your meal.. Everything is fresh vegetables in all your orders.. Their menu is awesome.. Can't say everything but please come and experience what they have to offer.. The owners and the service is the best.. Once you eat here you won't go anywhere else..
(5)Denise R.
The restaurant was clean with beautiful decor Food was good with fresh ingredients nice portion size and a very friendly staff, we will return!
(4)Bob H.
Our after-church group ate Sunday lunch here. We seated at one of their two outside tables on Madison Street. Some of our group ate off the lunch menu while others ate off the breakfast menu. Two of us had the a veggie omelet, one had toast and fruit while I had grits and pancakes.Another had a skillet with eggs and toast. Two of our five had wraps and crapes. The food was delicious and service was excellent. It was crowded during the Sunday noon hour. The food was good as well the service. I recommend this Forest Park location for breakfast or lunch.
(4)Glenda L.
My husband & I r out daughter for California had breakfast at MPK. We had the berry bomb crepes, mex fritata. The food was deliciousThe service was great. Our waitress Cathy was friend and polite. I will definitely come back.
(5)Jacqueline T.
Great breakfast place. Loved the gluten free pancakes. Big portions, you won't leave hungry. My boyfriend and I will be back.
(3)Chris B.
MP fills a gap in breakfast options in the Oak Park/Forest Park area - a step above traditional eggs 'n hot cakes. There are fancier menu items like frittatas, skillets and bennies - one special was Oreo pancakes. Portions are fairly big. The euro frittata was excellent - great balance of potatoes, eggs, veggies and cheese. Our omelette and pancakes were great as well. Didn't try any of the lunchier options but can't wait to go back and try a salad.
(5)Meredith B.
Given that I looked forward to this place opening for weeks, I was pretty disappointed at how average the place was. We have now eaten here twice and both times the food was fine and the service was fine. Which is fine, but with so many great options nearby, fine really just won't cut it in my book. The food is basic brunch food. There are several different options on the menu but none of them have been really spectacular. We had the caprese egg's Benedict and they were fine but nothing you would tell people they have to eat. The first time I went, I had the Nutella crepe and it was delicious. Also, the syrup for the pancakes was the cheap corn syrup kind, not the real maple stuff. I don't know if they had real maple syrup in back but by the time our server checked on us, we were already done with our pancakes. The coffee is a bit bitter for my husband and my taste, but maybe some people like it that way. For the service, I felt like people checked on us but we never got a second pitcher of water, even though both times empty water pitchers sat on the table. If you have kids, this is probably the place to go as there were tons of kids there for Sunday brunch. For my husband and I, listening to your screaming kids isn't really what we are looking for on a Sunday morning.

1st time here with my mom and I had the Harvest skillet with scrambled egg whites and a side of pancakes. My mom had a club sandwich with turkey. The food was pretty good and the service was fast. It's a really cute breakfast spot, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Love. Love. Love MPK. Went there the first week they opened and have been going back ever since. Every time I go it gets better and better. The space is chic and cozy. The staff is attentive and so sweet. The seasonal pancake specials are OUT OF THIS WORLD. From the AMAZING inaugural Birthday Cake Pancakes they had the first week to the DELICIOUS Jelly Donut Pancakes a couple weeks later and now the OUTSTANDING Pumpkin Pancakes I had this past weekend I AM ADDICTED! The eggs are great too. I'm obsessed with frittatas! So fresh, flavorful and huge I've yet to finish a whole one. AND now they just started serving Argo Tea!!!! Strawberry Green Tea or Rooibos Chai I CANT GET ENOUGH OF MPK!!!!!

Madison Park Kitchen replaces the venerable Thyme and Honey restaurant where I was a regular for the last 5 years. T&H was once an Oak Park staple but failed a few years after moving to Forest Park. Thankfully, several of their excellent servers (Diane and Kathy in particular) stayed on at M P Kitchen. They're one of the main reasons I loved Thyme and Honey, and the reason I'll be making M P Kitchen one of my regular breakfast stops. The menu has changed substantially from Thyme and Honey's. Fresher options, a more upscale feel--from garden fresh omelets and skillets to light and flavorful crepes--they've aimed higher from a culinary standpoint than their predecessor. Nothing wrong with diner breakfast food (and to be fair, T&H had some pretty fantastic omelets), but I appreciate the stronger emphasis on healthy choices and more pleasing plating. I enjoyed my veggi skillet: freshly sauteed zucchini, green and red pepper, broccoli, onion, and just enough mozzarella to hold everything together. Served over excellent, crisp hash browns with a couple scrambled eggs on top, it was light and delicious. The coffee is a major upgrade from T&H as well--I don't know what they brew, but it was flavorful and dark. Almost as good as the Intelligentsia coffee served at Delia's in Oak Park (which sets the standard for all coffee in my opinion). Service is excellent--as I mentioned earlier, Diane and Kathy make eating here a pleasure--your coffee cup never goes without a top off. I look forward to more meals at Madison Park Kitchen. I've yet to try their lunch fare, but plan to very soon. Overall: excellent, fresh breakfast served by a friendly staff. Give them a try--you won't be disappointed.

Wow First off service, very good and not in your face. My server now I can't remember her name but she was great. The buster brought over a bottle of water, a great thing since I go thru water. I'm pretty hard on "diners" this place has only been open two weeks, I think they will have a bright future. The menu is just the right size and things for vegetarians & etc. The coffee is WOW and you can drink it black it's that good. Portions are large you won't go home hungry. When asked if I wanted hot sauce they actually had options. They bring cold drinks and ask if you want a straw instead of dunking it in. This was Thyme & Honey it's gone, new owners & two servers & one of the bussers came from the old resto. They are open from 7am to 4pm or so. I really enjoyed my omelet The Medi (so good) you are not rushed. Parking in the back & on the street. Check them out you will be glad you did. They are on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & Pinterest. Cheers

What a gem in Forest Park. My wife and I went here this past weekend for a late breakfast/early lunch. Nice sitting area in front and a very roomy inside. Great decor, very cozy. Waitress was very friendly and even the owner came by to see how everything was. A nice touch. We ordered a Baked Apple Pancake to start off with, which was great. Then I had steak and eggs, which was a good size ribeye cooked medium how I like it with a side of cakes with strawberries which were sweet and good. My wife went healthy with the Harvest (veggie skillet) good combo and nice size. Coffee was good and they had Pepsi products a big plus. A most go to in the Forest Park area.

I've been here multiple times and I wish I could rate higher than just 5 stars. Their homemade soup is very tasty! I've ordered the kick, stir fry, and my favorite the chicken & waffles. Every time I've been here has been an amazing experience. Staff is great as well as the food! Also they offer Daily specials that are amazing! I can't wait to go back again soon!

I ate at MPK multiple times since their opening in the summer, great food and customer service! The Green Decor of the place is modern yet cozy. Had the birthday pancakes that were on special recently, and I am so glad I did!! Every time I go there I try something new depending on my mood of breakfast or lunch, and I have yet to be disappointed! They have creative options on the sleek menu and even offer Argo tea! (one of my favorites) Thank you MPK for bringing a modern touch to Forest Park! I am looking forward to try another new thing on the menu!

The Yelp rating says it best - Meh. Food was fine, not great. Service was definitely lacking. Kid friendly which is good for us. We had the Eggurito and one of the paninis (that's how forgettable the food was, I can't remember which one). Fries were definitely frozen from a bag somewhere. Likely won't be back between the blah food and not so great service.

I love the Southern Benny. Really well done. The service is top notch; friendly and attentive. This is a very solid breakfast joint.

MP is currently offering a 10% discount on weekday breakfasts. I had a filling Denver omelette this morning. Good coffee and friendly prompt service. Oh and parking in rear!

Honestly, I first came here after pulling a grad school all nighter and ive been back loke 2-3 times in the last 2 weeks lol. Id seen this place for months but I didnt know if itd be as stuffy as Thyme and Honey(it was kind of the old folks hang out, still is but not as bad lol). The food was fresh, waitresses nice, and the prices were not too bad. I paid like $11 for a HUGE omelette (I took half home), hash browns, coffee, and pancakes! I now have a neighborhood breakfast "spot".

Came back again yesterday and was even more impressed. My stuffed french toast was so delicious and filling. My boyfriend's fried chicken though, took the cake. I wouldn't consider myself a fried chicken type of gal but hot darn it took everything out of me not to steal his plate!

This was my first time at this breakfast place, and I enjoyed it. It's a cute little place with a menu with all the usual suspects (eggs, bacon with hashbrowns, why mess with the classics?), but they also had some more unique dishes too (e.g. nutella waffles, I think I even saw something for an oreo pancake too). I was meeting friends, and was running VERY late. I found parking right in front, and the waitress didn't skip a beat. I had coffee and a menu before I even got settled, and my food came out just as quickly. I got eggs, bacon, hashbrowns. I'm not crazy about eggs to begin with, but these scrambled eggs were decent, and much tomy excitement, the bacon was cooked perfectly. I hate going to places and the bacon is so crispy that it falls apart when you pick it up- this bacon was perfect. Mind you, it was a Friday morning, so it wasn't very busy, but I was still impressed by how fast and easy everything was.

Great fresh food and awesome service. Breakfast is great and large proportions. Will be back for the speciality pancakes!

Went here on whim with my mom. We love good food and were looking forward to trying a new place to eat. The food was fabulous. My mom got a frittata, and I got a wrap. They tasted fresh and the temperature was perfect. We really enjoyed discussing our food and comparing the flavones. What we didn't like was our server. She seemed to be out there and not focused on doing her job. It took about 10 min to get her attention even though she was standing 5 feet away from us. When we got our bill she had rounded it up to the nearest quarter. I know that a couple of pennies isn't all that much but there was no explanation as to why. We will totally eat there again...we just won't be sitting in her section.

The decor is fresh & clean, & loved the creative diverse menu. Went for lunch, but breakfast was also available. I had the caprese sandwich & my friend had the BLT. Soup was included with our sandwiches, which was a nice bonus. Also, there is a choice of sides - fries, pasta salad, & if those don't work they will offer others options. Our server was attentive & wonderful. I would go back again to try some of the wonderful breakfast option. Great to know that you can get breakfast at lunch time.

The best option for breakfast on Madison St. Period. Service is great. Food is great. I prefer MPK to Louie's or Original Pancake House..... Actually, I'd skip breakfast before stepping foot in Original Pancake House again.

. We came here for a post-bachelorette party Sunday brunch. It was practically the only place in the greater Chicago area that would allow us to make a reservation for 10 girls during prime time Sunday brunch hours. We really appreciated how accommodating they were. The decor is really cute and it has a casual yet sophisticated ambiance. The menu is full with all of my favorite brunch basics - omelets, skillets, pancakes, etc. The food was solid and hit the spot. Our waitress, Cathy, was friendly and on top of it and gave us good suggestions on what to order. We had a really enjoyable experience here and I would go back.

Great skillets and brunch food. I haven't tried the lunch menu yet, but great service as well

We love this place for weekend brunch. The food is top notch and we don't have to wait which is a huge plus with kiddos. I always get a skillet (on sweet potato fries) and it's to die for. Waiters are friendly and on their game. Quality of the food is great. You could probably go down the street to a cheaper diner but you get what you pay for.

Randomly stopped in for breakfast and I was greeted by who I would assume is the owner or manager. I was really happy they had parking in the back. A few people employees asked me how I was doing, my server promptly brought me coffee and a few other servers even filled my coffee if they were passing by. It was pretty slow when I came in, and even after it picked up I still felt the service was good. I really liked the berry waffle, the hash browns were pretty good, too. The coffee wasn't the greatest, but that wasn't a big deal, I know it's not super fancy. I'm not a big breakfast person but I liked the menu, food, and service today. I will be in again! Plus, you get 10% off bfast and lunch M-F.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we found out that they had gluten free pancakes available. We could have them as a substitute for toast, so we were extremely happy. And they were the best we've ever had at a restaurant! Not only that, the omelet was wonderful and now a favorite of ours. Can't wait to try more options next time!

Very good--there are a lot of interesting choices on the menu (it was hard to pick one)! The food was tasty and the service attentive. And the decor is fabulous! I'll definitely be going back again.

Nice upbeat place. My husband loves the scramble eggs and ham. The Kick painni is "kick a**"! Great ice tea. Service is pleasant.

We're always eager to find a good breakfast restaurant, and had high hopes for Madison Park Kitchen. Really hip decor, and the place was packed the Sunday morning we visited. Service was passive (had to ask for water and coffee refills). The menu seemed interesting, but the two dishes we tried didn't deliver. I tried the spinach and tomato crepe with hollandaise sauce. The crepes were very thick and sweet, and the cook was VERY stingy with filling and sauce, so the sweetness of the crepe dominated the palate (I'd say there was no veggie filling for about 1/3 of the crepes). If I wanted something sweet rather than savory, I would have ordered pancakes. My husband ordered the corn beef frittata, which was delivered in a deep skillet, and was 95 percent corn beef hash-- not like any other frittata we'd ever seen. All in all, we were not impressed and probably won't be back (wish an Egg Harbor would open in Oak or Forest Park!).
